Honouring Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and 2SLGBTQQIA People on the Flowering Full Moon

Join ADAAWE Elder-In-Residence Claudette Commanda and ADAAWE Member
Doreen Stevens to pay tribute to Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and
2SLGBTQQIA people on Friday, May 5th .

Following a meetup and food at ADAAWE from 5:00 pm to 6:45 pm, Claudette
Commanda will lead a walk from ADAAWE across the bridge to Gatineau where the
Red Dress Ceremony will take place. The group will leave ADAAWE at 6:45 pm for an
approximately 3.5 km walk to Cache Bay (located behind L’Université de Quebec en
Outaouais), which will take about 1 hour. The group will arrive at Cache Bay at 7:45 pm
and participate in the ceremony.

Women are encouraged to wear red dresses. Men will have an opportunity to make
prayer ties at ADAAWE to place in trees at the bay.

For those interested, a large group gathering organized by Families of Sisters Spirit on
Parliament Hill is planned from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm, followed by Musical Piece by
Doreen Stevens.
