Join fellow ADAAWE members on a journey from Somerset Street to Parliament Hill as we commemorate two significant occasions: The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, and Orange Shirt Day.
Orange Shirt Day is an Indigenous-led grassroots event that shines a light on the harrowing legacy of residential schools. The orange shirt is not just a garment; it’s a powerful symbol. It represents the loss of culture, freedom, and self-esteem that countless Indigenous children faced for generations.
On this day, we aim to echo the message that “Every Child Matters.” We encourage all Canadians to wear orange to honour the thousands of Survivors of residential schools.
Gather with us in your orange shirts at 338 Somerset St., and from there, we will depart as a united front, walking towards Parliament Hill, marking our collective commitment to Truth and Reconciliation.
We invite everyone to participate in this walk, regardless of their background or beliefs. This is an opportunity to come together as a community and show our support for Indigenous peoples and their ongoing journey towards healing and reconciliation.
Together, we’ll walk with purpose, unity, and remembrance.
